You never know how much you’ll enjoy something until you give it a try, and this is exactly why we offer FREE Trial Music Lessons at The Real School of Music. But what does a trial lesson actually look like? Here’s how the trial process works and everything you can expect from scheduling your lesson to following up after.
Scheduling Your Lesson
When you call to book or request your trial lesson, a member of our Front Desk team will ask questions about you or your student to determine which instructors would be the best fit for your personality and musical tastes, your current skills, and your musical goals. We will work with your schedule to find the best open lesson times and encourage you to select a time that works for you going forward to make it an easier transition with your instructor if you choose to keep taking lessons. Trial lessons are 30 minutes in length.
Welcome Tour
We encourage you to arrive at the school 10-15 minutes early for your lesson for a tour of the school and our programs before you are introduced to your instructor. As soon as you step into our school, you’ll be greeted by the friendly faces of our Front Desk team, instructors, and some of your fellow music students. The atmosphere is buzzing with creativity and the promise of an exciting musical journey.
Meet Your Instructor
The instructor for your trial lesson was chosen specifically for YOU and all of our incredibly talented instructors have been teaching and playing music for years. They’re not just here to teach, though – they’re here to guide, inspire, and tailor the lessons to your unique musical goals and interests. Together, you’ll set the stage for what your ongoing lesson experience at Real School can be and how you can both learn and enjoy your instrument.
Lesson Experience
Whether you’re a newbie with no musical experience or a budding musician looking to refine your skills, your trial lesson will be designed just for you. You’ll get to explore the instrument and show your instructor what you know or talk about what you want to learn. Don’t worry; the trial focus is on fun, exploration, and for you and your instructor to get to know each other. Parents are welcome to sit in on the lesson, too.

By the end of your free trial music lesson, you’ll not only have had a blast but will also have seen what the buzz about lessons at Real School is all about. Your instructor and our Front Desk team will guide you on the next steps, helping you decide the best path forward to achieve your goals. There is absolutely no commitment required to enjoy your free trial lesson, but after enjoying your lesson, we can work with you to lock in your new lesson time going forward so you can keep enjoying lessons with your new instructor.
