Current Student ResourcesADDRESSING COVID-19 IN OUR COMMUNITY

Last updated April 29th, 2022

Below are the steps The Real School of Music will take if issues related to COVID-19 arise in our facility or community. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with this process.

What If a Real School Employee Reports Direct Exposure (at Real School or elsewhere) To a Confirmed COVID-19 Case?

Instructor Direct Exposure to COVID: (per the CDC Updated Guidelines)

If an instructor has been directly exposed and has been boosted

OR
Completed the primary vaccine series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months
OR
Completed the primary series of J&J vaccines within the last 2 months

THEN the instructor does not need to stay home unless they develop symptoms. We do require a COVID test no earlier than the 5th day after exposure, and the instructor is required to wear a mask while in Real School facilities for 10 days, regardless of whether they had a negative test result.

All students of the exposed instructor will be contacted and given a choice to have their lessons in-person (both instructor and students masked) or remotely during the 10-day masked period.

If a instructor has not had their booster shot or been vaccinated within the CDC recommended timelines listed above, the instructor’s lessons will be taught remotely until either a negative test no earlier than the 5th day after exposure or after the 10th day after exposure.

IF the instructor is not comfortable teaching the student in-person, then the lesson(s) will need to be online until the student tests negative no earlier than the 5th day after exposure.

All instructors of exposed students will be notified and given a choice to teach their lessons in-person or remotely. During this 10-day period, both students and instructors are required to wear a mask.

If a student has not had their booster shot or been vaccinated within the CDC recommended timelines listed above, the student’s lesson(s) will be taught remotely until either a negative test no earlier than the 5th day after exposure or after the 10th day after exposure.

Clean & Disinfect Our School

After a confirmed COVID-19 case, we will follow the CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting the school. Our staff and/or a third-party sanitation contractor will clean and disinfect all areas e.g., lesson/ensemble rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
