Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Transporting you from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Auditions will be Tuesday, September 16th from 4-6pm at Real School Andover.
What to expect on Audition Day:
Auditions are nothing to be afraid of – in fact, they are really fun! One week before auditions, all fully registered cast members will receive their audition materials including songs and scenes as well your Audition Form. This form should be completed before auditioning and asks about things like what experience you may have, what roles you would like to be considered for, etc. Students often audition in groups rather than alone and this gives the Director time to teach each student what auditions look like. Don’t worry – no memorization is necessary and there will be no cuts!
If you have not received your audition materials within the time frame mentioned, please reach out to your Director or Front Desk team.
What to expect with Casting:
Casting will be completed prior to the first rehearsal after the audition and the list will be sent out by email by the Director. It’s important to know that not every actor will receive the role they want, but they will still have their own space to shine in their role and all actors receive a role. As part of the Audition Form, students indicate that they agree to play the part they are cast in. We encourage students to keep the role they are assigned as our productions are centered on learning the process of putting on a show and to build performance skills. No part is too small and no role is more important than another.
