POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Our mission is to provide the best learning environment for musicians of all ages. In an effort to do so, these Policies & Procedures provide clarity for new and continuing students and families of what Real School expects of you and what you can expect of Real School.

For the best experience at Real School, students and families will also be set up with an account within Groov, our scheduling and point-of-sale software. You will see notes about Groov in our policies below and will have regular interactions and references to Groov throughout your time with us.

LESSONS

ENROLLMENT PROCESS

To enroll in lessons at Real School for the first time, students must connect with our Front Desk team by phone or email to confirm their schedule and secure payment. Enrollment is not complete until the first payment is made. We invite any students considering enrolling to sign up for a Free Trial Lesson.

AUTO-ENROLLMENT

All students are automatically enrolled on an ongoing basis regardless of payment method. If a student wishes to not auto-enroll before their next payment, they must let us know at least one month prior to their next payment date.

Continued enrollment secures your scheduled day and time for lessons ongoing. Choosing to not auto-enroll may cause you to lose your preferred lesson schedule.

**Should you need to make a permanent change to your current lesson schedule to a new day and time at any point, please contact our Front Desk team and we will do our best to accommodate these changes.

PAYMENT METHODS & SCHEDULE

We offer two payment plans:

  • PAY IN FULL
    • 4 month commitment
    • Receive a discount
    • Payment accepted by card, check, or cash
  • MONTHLY PAYMENTS
    • Paid 1 month ahead
    • Payment accepted by card only

Students can switch to monthly or pay in full effective their next payment date.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Pay in Full students are notified no less than one week prior to their next payment date which is typically 45 days prior to the start of their next 4 month enrollment. Payments are then charged on the 20th of the corresponding month and will enroll students for the next 4 months.

Monthly Payment students are continuously enrolled for each month with charges made a month in advance on the 20th of each month.

New Students will pay for the current month and the next at their initial time of enrollment. For example, if one month of lessons is $150 and the student begins taking lessons on the 10th of the month, they will pay for half of the current month ($75) plus the full next month ($150) which would total $225. After this initial payment, the next payment would be on the 20th of the next month and will follow the payment schedule outlined above.

ATTENDANCE, HOLIDAYS, & CLOSURES

We understand that things come up that may require a cancellation or rescheduling of a lesson.

STUDENT CANCELLATIONS AND MAKE-UP LESSONS

To cancel a lesson for any reason, we prefer students to submit their cancellation through the Groov Student Portal. Alternatively, students can fill out the Student Cancellation Form on our website or call the Front Desk at (888)-881-7325.

Students are allowed 1 cancellation per month with a makeup lesson scheduled (not necessarily delivered) within 30 days of the canceled lesson or the lesson will be deemed forfeit. Students are only allowed one outstanding makeup lesson at a time. We do not offer make up lessons for already scheduled make up lessons.

To be conscious of each instructor’s schedule, we require a minimum of 2 hours notice before the start of the lesson time if a student needs to cancel. If we receive notice of cancellation less than 2 hours before the start of the lesson or a student does not show up for the lesson, this lesson will be deemed forfeit.

Please be aware that many of our instructors have full schedules. In the event that we cannot reschedule with the student’s current instructor, we will do our best to offer a substitute instructor. Should the student choose to not accept a substitute instructor for a makeup lesson in this instance, the lesson will be deemed forfeit.

There are no credits or refunds for student cancelled lessons.

INSTRUCTOR CANCELLATIONS

Should an instructor not be available for a student’s regularly scheduled lesson time for any reason, a qualified Real School substitute instructor will be provided and the lesson will continue at its normally scheduled time. Students who choose not to accept a secured substitute instructor would follow the Student Cancellation policy above.

In the event that we cannot secure a substitute, we will notify the student and work with them to reschedule. Every attempt will be made on behalf of Real School to reschedule any missed lessons due to instructor cancellations. If we are unable to reschedule a lesson after multiple attempts due to an instructor cancellation, a credit will be issued.

SCHOOL CLOSURES & CANCELLATIONS

Real School does not always follow the same academic schedule or weather cancellation decisions as local public schools.

All Real School locations are closed:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day

Should Real School’s buildings need to be closed due to situations outside of our control such as severe weather, we will flip to online lessons/classes. Closures are announced to families by email/phone/text and will be posted as an update on our social media pages (Andover, Burlington, Derry, and Instagram). Students who choose to cancel their online lesson would follow the Student Cancellation policy above. This would not count against the student’s one cancellation per month.

In the event that Real School is unable to deliver online lessons due to school closure for any reason such as power outages, we will work with students to reschedule these lessons. Every attempt will be made on behalf of Real School to reschedule any missed lessons due to school closures where online lessons are not offered. If we are unable to reschedule a lesson after multiple attempts due to a school closure, a credit will be issued.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS

All lesson payments are nonrefundable regardless of payment method. Any outstanding balance will remain as credit on the family’s account to be used towards future Real School services.

For Pay in Full students, notice of withdrawal must be received at least 45 days prior to the next billing cycle to stop the next payment. We contact all Pay in Full students prior to their next payment date including information about how to withdraw or opt out of their next 4 month enrollment.

For Monthly Payment students, notice of withdrawal must be received by the 20th of the month to stop the next month’s payment. Our billing cycle is scheduled out 4 months at a time and on occasion, there may be a partial lesson outstanding balance due to longer months. Students are informed of any outstanding balance at the time of withdrawal and the final payment will be charged using the card on file.
