Invest in your futureINTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Your future is bright – and we’d like to make it even brighter! We have always believed in creating a place where students feel empowered and encouraged to take the world head on. Every student deserves the opportunity to sharpen their skills, explore new ones, and to gain valuable experiences to move them forward. This is where the Real School Internship Program comes in!

The Real School Internship Program seeks to provide high school students (ages 16+) and college students with an opportunity to work behind the scenes in a space that booms with creativity, education, fun, and of course music. These paid internships offer valuable experiences that are amazing references for future work opportunities, and a Letter of Recommendation from Real School management is a great addition to any college application.

Ok, so how do you become a Real School Intern and what does that look like? Let’s dive in!

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

Interns must be at least 16 years old with reliable transportation and availability to work a minimum of 4 hours per week during after school hours (3:30pm-9:00pm) and/or Saturdays. You will regularly have opportunities to work more hours as your schedule allows.

*Please note that you do not have to be available from 3:30-9:00pm on weekdays or from 9:30am-4:30pm on Saturdays, but that your availability must fall between those hours).

This is a paid internship. Yep, you read that right! All Real School Interns are paid $15 per hour and you will earn paid time off that will be paid out at the end of your program!

We offer three Real School Internship Sessions per year:

  • Fall (September-December)
  • Winter (January-April)
  • Spring/Summer (May-August)
    • RealJams Academy Internships are July & August

At the end of your internship, you will also receive a Letter of Recommendation from Real School which makes a great addition to college applications and other job references.

An Internship at Real School does not guarantee continued employment. However, your General Manager will discuss with you any opportunity to continue your internship at the end of each 4 month period.

Real School Internship

All Real School Interns will be expected to do the following duties as needed:

  • Help Front Desk staff with changing over rooms between events or classes
  • Greet students and family members as they enter the school
  • Put together trial folders for prospective students and assist with giving school tours
  • Work a minimum number of Marketing events such as Student Showcases, local Town Days, Parents Night Out events, etc. under the guidance of the event staff including setup and connecting with parents/students
  • Assist with setup for Musical Theatre performances and Student Showcases including concessions, Red Carpet station, room organization, and taking a group photo of students with their instructor at the end of each showcase
  • Empty trash, vacuum carpets, tidy seating areas, and other tasks to maintain a clean space in the school
  • Print and change posters around the school to remove any that are out of date and replace with current ones
  • Check on various school stock to see if an order is needed

These are just the basics. We have some pretty cool opportunities that come up to be creative on a regular basis and ways to get involved in supporting all of Real School’s programs through your internship.

As a Real School Intern, you represent Real School during your internship hours. All Real School Interns will be expected to follow a dress code as follows:

  • No clothing should endorse or promote any alcohol or tobacco products, political affiliations, or feature profanity or any references to illicit activities
  • All clothing must provide modest coverage. Cut off or cut out tank tops, clothing that exposes your midriff or ribs, and open-toed shoes are not allowed. Shorts are acceptable July 1st through August 31st during our summer sessions only.
  • FOR STUDENT SHOWCASES (onsite and offsite), interns are expected to wear business casual attire. Sweatshirts, sweatpants or cut up/patched jeans are not acceptable attire when working Student Showcases. Clean jeans and a nice shirt are acceptable.
  • FOR OTHER PERFORMANCES (onsite and offsite), interns must ask the Director of that program or their location’s General Manager about the desired dress code including if clean jeans are acceptable or if khakis, dress pants, or black clothing are requested. Sweatshirts, sweatpants or cut up/patched jeans are not acceptable attire when working Performances.

If you have any questions about the dress code, reach out to your location’s General Manager or a member of the Central Team. We respect and honor diverse cultural and religious clothing. Individuals are welcome to wear attire that aligns with their beliefs while still meeting the overall dress code standards.
