Violeta Dontcheva is a well known musician and educator in the New England area who comes from a large family of world renowned musicians.
She started playing the piano at the age of 3 and as a young prodigy quickly advanced with her studies with some of the best European piano teachers. Her Classical Piano Performance and Teaching degree includes extended studies in the art of piano playing, ear training, harmony, music theory and literature, ensemble and orchestration. After graduating with honors in Piano Performance and Sound Engineering from a Classical Conservatory, she gained even more experience by teaching in elite music schools and academies in Europe. Violeta participated and won awards in multiple piano competitions and composition contests, did recordings, played in multiple bands and, composed and arranged music for theater performances.
After winning a prestigious piano competition in Thsaloniki (Greece), Berklee College of Music in Boston offered her a full scholarship. Violeta studied Jazz Piano Performance and Music Production & Engineering at Berklee, while also launching her own private practice and building an impressive reputation. Violeta also worked for a number of years at the Sonic Temple Studio in Roslindale,MA as a House Engineer, recording renown artists and orchestras. She performed at many local concerts and worked in the Boston area for the last 25 years as a renowned piano educator, performer and sound engineer. Violeta’s credits include various solo performances and records, as well as collaborations with some of the best New England orchestras and performers.
Violeta teaches students of all ages and levels, focusing on individual approach while teaching all styles of music. Her background as a strong classical pianist and as a Yamaha Music Educator helps her to create solid structured lessons based on proven methods and individual approach. After teaching in several New England area music schools including Yamaha School in Boston, Violeta joined the Real School of Music faculty in Burlington and for more than a decade her long term success has built up a strong reputation and respect in the local community.
Violeta believes in the importance of a solid foundation when she builds her students’ skill set, focusing on strong reading skills, technical abilities, variety in the repertoire and participation in semester’s recitals or piano competitions.
Playing music is fun and Violeta has the ability to work with different students and always makes it exciting while achieving maximus results. She has the maturity and patience to work with total beginners and young children and approaches music as a language to enter students in the most natural way into the magical world of music. Her more advanced students have won numerous national and world awards in piano competitions and carry the legacy of Violeta’s teaching.
