Tom Pompei

Instructor

Tom Pompei is a drummer based in Massachusetts. He started his music journey on guitar at the age of 11, playing in bands all throughout middle school and high school. At 15 he joined the Attleboro High School marching band as a snare drummer in the drum line. Through this he found a love for the drums and started a band with some friends called Mr. Thinwheel. With a couple EPs recorded and put on Spotify, this was a rock/funk/jazz band that took his drumming skills to a whole new level.

Tom began to take lessons with Peter Doiron to prepare for college. He auditioned and got accepted to UMass Lowell where he attended one semester before auditioning and getting accepted to Berklee College of Music. He attended the Berklee affiliated school Holland College in PEI, Canada.

In PEI, Canada, Tom performed at nearly every major venue in the city of Charlottetown. He played in all different styles of bands ranging from rock, to funk, to jazz, to celtic and world music and more. He studied under Sabian Cymbals artist Alan Dowling and quickly became more and more well rounded as a drummer.

After college, Tom fell in love with teaching through his YouTube channel and various lesson stores in the Bristol county area of Massachusetts. He loves sharing his experience on the greatest instrument of all time, and seeing the joy in his students’ faces when they learn new material and level up on the drum kit. His lessons are all about fun, while still gaining new skills and a love for music.
