What to Bring to RealJams

Whether you’re brand new to RealJams or coming back for another round, showing up with your best foot forward can make your week even more fun, smooth, and successful. RealJams is all about creativity, collaboration, and connection—and having the things you need will help you get the most out of the experience.

Start with your instrument essentials.

Bring your instrument and any tools or extras that keep it running smoothly – extra strings or reeds, a drum key, picks, tuners, capos, and so on. If you’re a drummer or guitarist in our RealJams Advanced program, feel free to bring along your pedals or other gear you’re used to using.

Bring your creative ideas.

Whether you’re writing a song, brainstorming music video concepts, or building a set, it helps to come in with a few ideas already brewing. A notebook or sketchpad with a pencil is perfect for capturing lyrics, storyboards, or any bursts of creativity throughout the week. If you’ve been noodling around with any cool riffs or ideas at home, jot them down or record them and bring them along – we’d love to help bring them to life.

Plan for comfort & fun.

It’s summer, and we’ll be spending the whole day together – so dress in comfy clothes you can move in. Breaks are a great chance to relax and connect, so consider bringing a favorite card game (like Sushi Go! or Uno), or a ball or frisbee to toss around outside. Make sure you grab sunscreen, sunglasses, and comfy shoes in case your group heads outdoors during the day.

Don't forget your lunch!

Fuel and hydration are key for a full day of music. Please pack a nut-free lunch to help keep all students safe, and bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. If you’re joining our $25 pizza-and-water lunch plan, bring cash (no quarters, please!).

Most importantly, bring a good attitude.

Come ready to meet new people, collaborate, try new things, and support your fellow RealJammers. This is a space to take creative risks, make music with new friends, and discover what you’re capable of. Whether you’re behind a mic, a mixing board, or a spotlight – there’s a place for you here.

See you this summer!
